Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs)

Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs)

Body-focused repetitive behaviour (BFRB) refers to a group of related disorders including hair pulling, skin picking, and nail-biting. While many feel shame related to their BFRB, they are more common than people realize, impacting at least 5% of the population.  Unique from habits or tics, BFRBs are complex disorders that result in repeated touching ones’ hair and body in ways that can result in physical damage.
